Geist Reservoir Docks

Heartland Dredging was contacted by a couple of homeowners on Geist Reservoir who had a significant sediment problem at their private docks. The docks were located at the end of a small cove on the reservoir with very limited access. The cove was surrounded by steep hills and expensive homes which meant there was no way to use conventional excavating equipment and trucks. There simply was no access without major damage. An excavator working off of a small barge loading onto another small barge was going to be very tight and the location to off-load the barge was on the opposite end of the reservoir.

We offered the only cost effective solution to their problem. Our dredge was small enough to maneuver in the cove and it had the power to pump the material through a 6” pipe up the hill and out to a cul-de-sac where we had a small geotextile tube set up. In just a couple of days we were able to remove 250 cubic yards of hard to reach sludge. Once the material dewatered in the tube for a short period of time, it was removed and hauled away. There was absolutely no damage to the site.
